The thing I look for the most when I’m interviewing someone is that they’re still professional but candid enough to be real with me. If someone is giving me robotic answers, or I feel like they’ve practiced in front of ________ (1), or they’re just trying to tell me what I want to hear, I’m not interested in that. I want you to feel comfortable with me, because I need to know what it’s like to work with you, because my main thing when I’m interviewing someone is what’s your ________ (2) like. Because I need to know if you’ll fit in with my company, with my team , and if you’re just giving me robotic answers and I don’t feel like I’m getting a connection with you…then you’re probably not going to make the cut. The other part is to really look at that ________ (3) and understand what that company is looking for so if the company says they want somebody who’s a good team player, they need to think through examples of when they were a good ________ (4) or where they used Excel, or things like that. So, understand the questions they’re going to be asking and prepare for those. You know of course, also coming up with some examples. Most of my questions are behavioral based interview questions, so I want to know about a time when you did ________ (5) relevant to my question. Having some examples from the back of your mind of different things you’ve done in your past career or schoolwork is important as well. Don’t just come in cold and say well tell me about your company, but have some information about it , know a little bit about what the kind of company it is, and be able to ask them some really intelligent questions, I think that’s really ________ (6) when students come prepared like that. I’ve always said that practice makes perfect, I think standing in front of the mirror or practicing, or just running through your head some of the questions you might ________ (7), some of the situations that you might encounter in the interview, maybe set up a mock interview. I think there are two important ________ (8) to impress not only a recruiter but a hiring manager. One, do your research on the company and on the position, and two come prepared with questions.
